REPORT OF NATIONAL CANCER AWARENESS DAY
The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Azeezia college of Dental science and Research and NSS unit(NSS/SFU/KLM/KUHS/3) organized an oral screening and Health education camp on 5/11/2025 as a part of National Cancer awareness day in association with SMHSS, Kottara.
National Cancer awareness day aims to spread awareness about Cancer prevention and early detection. It encourage people to get regular screening and adopt a healthy lifestyle to reduce Cancer risk and educate the public about the importance of recognizing early symptoms .Key message for National Cancer awareness day is ‘Early detection, savelives’. This day was chose to honour the birth Anniversary of Marie Curie.
The Camp started at 10:30 am with an inauguration. A health talk was taken on the topic ‘Oral Cancer and its prevention’ for the students by Dr Ankita. About 220 patients came for oral screening. Among the 220 patients, 150 patients referred to Azeezia dental college. Among 150 patients, 148 patients referred to Pedodontics and preventive Dentistry, 1 patient referred to conservative Dentistry and endodontics and 1 patient referred to Orthodontics. The posters were also displayed in front of Reception of Azeezia Dental College about oral Cancer, highlighting the importance of its prevention, side effects causes and site of oral cancer. Brouchers regarding oral cancer its prevention and management were distributed to the patients as well as students and it was explained by the House Surgeons. The posters which displayed at the reception area was also explained by the House Surgeons.The camp concluded at 1:30 pm.
