REPORT OF NATIONAL TOOTH BRUSHING DAY
To commemorate National Tooth brushing day, Azeezia college of Dental Science and Research .Kollam, Department of Public Health Dentistry and NSS unit (NSS/SFU/KLM/KUHS/3) organized an awareness session and Oral Screening camp at adopted village in association with Thooval Sparsham kids School, Velichikkala,Kollam.
National Tooth Brushing Day 2025 is an annual observance dedicated to promoting Good oral health practices, especially among children and young adults. This day serves as a remainder of the importance of proper dental hygiene, including regular brushing and flossing, to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. The Theme of 2025 is “Two minutes, two times- that’s the brushing rhyme!”. The camp started at 10:00am with an inauguration ceremony. The welcome speech was given by Mr Alex, Chairman of Thooval Sparsham kids School ,Velichikkala. The Felicitation was given by Mr Anil, Director, Thooval Sparsham kids School, Velichikkala. The camp program was inaugurated by Father Sanjay Babu, PTA President, Thooval sparsham Kids School and the camp details was given by Dr Naveen Jacob Varghese, Senior Lecturer, Azeezia Dental College.
The program started with health talk by Dr Sainu (PG,Depart,ent of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry) on the topic “Oral Health its importance and prevention” and also showed brushing technique with demonstration for the students. The students were given brushes and paste. There were a total of 26 students and they were categorized into a group of 5 each and every student were demonstrated with the proper brushing technique after that from each group a student was selected and were asked to do the brushing technique. About 26 students were screened on the camp and among the 26 students 17 students were referred to Department of Pediatrics and Preventive Dentistry of Azeezia Dental College. The camp concluded at1:30pm.
