REPORT OF INDEPENDENCE DAY 2023
Independence day commemorates the nation’s independence from the British Empire on 15 th
August 1947, the day when the provision of the Indian Independence Act , which transferred
Legislative sovereignity to the Indian constituent Assembly came into effect. The 77 th
Independence Day was celebrated based on the theme “ Nation First , Always First “ , an integral
part of the broader ‘ Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav ‘ celebration. The Independence Day celebration
was conducted in association with Azeezia Dental College, Department of Public Health
Dentistry and NSS unit (NSS,SFU,KLM,KUHS/3), Azeezia Medical College and Azeezia
NursingCollege. The Nursing students,Dental students,Medical students as well as the faculties
and non-faculties actively participated in the celebration.
The celebration began at 8.30 a.m with a rally starting from Azeezia Dental College to
the Academy building,where the rest of the programs were held. The Chief Guest of the Day was
Dr.Sasikala , Principal of Azeezia Medical College. The flag was hoisted by the chief guest and
she shared an inspiring speech about the history of our country. The National Anthem was sung
in unity alongwith the flag hoisting. Dr. Naveen Jacob Varghese, senior Lecturer from the
Department of Public Health Dentistry facilitated the Independence day programs. Later the
students presented patriotic songs and speech. The first program was a patriotic song sung by the
Nursing students. The Independence day speech was presented by Fousiya , third year BDS
student.
Speeches and wishes were given by Dr.Antony , Department of Anatomy and Dr.Prasobh
, Department of Microbiology. The Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.Kurien Varghese , HOD
of Department of Prosthodontics. The program concluded at 9.30 a.m with the distribution of
sweets.
