REPORT ON WORLD HEALTH DAY
The World Health Day is celebrated annually on April 7 to raise awareness towards global well being. This years (2024) theme is ‘My Health, My Right ‘ which emphasised on fundamentals of human right to access quality Health care, Education and Information.
As a part of this day an oral screening/health awareness programme was organised by Department of Public health dentistry, Azeezia College of Dental Sciences and Research and NSS unit (NSS/SFU/KLM/KUHS/3) organized a health education and oral screening camp on 08/04/2024 at Gandhibhavan Snehalayam, Nedumpana Panchayat.
The camp was inaugurated by Dr.Naveen Jacob Varghese,Senior Lecturer of Department of Public Health Dentistry and inaugural address was given by Mrs.Prasanna Ramachandran, Director of Gandhibhavan Snehalayam. After that a health education talk was delivered to the inmates by Dr.Lekshmi on the topic ‘Oral health awareness and it’s importance’. The Health education talk emphasised about various oral diseases it’s prevention and management. Posters were also displayed about different oral health conditions .A kids Mannequin was also displayed in front of the camp, which delivered the importance of oral health awareness.
Also an oral screening was conducted and a total of 34 inmates were screened. Out of which 23 patients were referred to Azeezia dental college for Oral prophylaxis,18 patients for extraction,9 patients for restoration and 24 patients for prosthetic rehabilitation.
The vote of thanks was given by Mrs.Usha and Mr.Suresh,chairman of Siddhartha school and Gandhibhavan Snehalayam and the camp concluded at 2 pm.
