REPORT ON PROGRAMME CONDUCTED ON BEHALF OF WORLD NO TOBACCO Â DAY
In favour of World No Tobacco Day observed on 31st May 2024,Department Of Oral Medicine & Radiology organised several activities for the week starting off with distribution of pamphlet to OPD patients on 20th May 2024 followed by the exhibition on ill effects of tobacco in collaboration with Department of Public Health Dentistry on 21st May 2024.Later on, an aware ness programme for Asha workers was given by Dr .Mithula Nair.S, educating them on oral lesions sequential to tobacco consumption. Distribution of calender and eco- friendly seed pens with No Tobacco Message to public and patients was done on 31-05-2024. A Tobacco Cessation Training programme was conducted by Department Of Oral Medicine & Radiology in commemoration with ASMIK ON 1st June 2024(Saturday)from 9:30 am -12:30 pm at Azeezia Medical College Auditorium in delight of World No Tobacco Day with Dr.Jayakrishnan R(BDS,MPH,PHD) from RCC ,Trivandrum as the resource person. The programme was attended by 155 students and 24 faculties from both dental and nursing wing. An innovative session with a fruitful message was conveyed by the speaker within the provided hours.A proper illustration of the current scenario pertaining on public awareness and education on tobacco cessation was explained briefly and precisely through roleplay with participating students as the performers. An appropriate way of management and monitoring of tobacco cessation was enlightened by the main speaker throughout the session by means of pictorial representation ,data and various resources which was highly innovative and informative.
