REPORT OF ORAL SCREENING CAMP AT MES INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, CHATHANNOOR,KOLLAM
An Oral Screening Camp was organized by the Department of Public Health Dentistry, NSS unit (NSS/SFU/KLM/KUHS/3) ,Azeezia College of Dental Science and Research & NSS unit of MES Institute of technology and Management,Chathannoor,Kollam on 11th August 2026 from 10:00am to 1:00pm to promote oral health awareness and facilitate early detection of dental problems among students. A total of 62 students were screened during the camp. The Oral health assessments were carried out, and oral hygiene instructions were provided to the students. They were educated on proper oral hygiene practices and the importance of regular dental check-ups. Following the screening, 56 students were referred to Azeezia Dental College for further evaluation and treatment. The referrals included procedures such as scaling, extraction, restoration, orthodontic consultation and other required dental treatments. Among this 36 students were referred to department of Periodontics, 29 students were referred to Department of Conservative Dentistry, 23 students were referred to Department of Orthodontics, 4 students were referred to Department of OMFS and 3 students were referred to Department of Prosthodontics. The camp was successful in creating awareness about oral health and identifying students who required further dental care. The initiative emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, preventive care, and timely treatment for maintaining good oral health
