REPORT OF NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH DENTISTRY DAY
The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Azeezia College of Dental Science & Research commemorated National Public Health Dentistry Day(19TH June 2026) on 23rd June 2026 with great enthusiasm. The celebration aimed to create awareness about the significance of public health dentistry and to encourage students to understand their role in promoting oral health at the community level. The official theme for National Public Health Dentistry Day was “Integrate to Elevate: Oral Health as a pillar of Public Health”. The theme emphasizes the importance of recognizing oral health as an integral component of overall health and public health. It highlights the need for collaboration between dental and medical professionals, integration of oral health into primary health care services, and strengthening preventive and community-based approaches to improve the health and well-being of the population.
National Public Health Dentistry Day is observed to highlight the importance of preventive and community-oriented dental care. Public Health Dentistry focuses on improving oral health through health promotion, disease prevention, community education, and the development of accessible oral healthcare services. The day serves as a reminder of the vital role dental professional’s play in enhancing the overall health and well-being of society by addressing oral health needs at the population level.
As part of the celebration, the Department of Public Health Dentistry organized a Health Talk Competition. The competition provided a platform for students to present informative and engaging talks on the importance of integrating oral health with general health and promoting collaborative approaches to community healthcare. Participants demonstrated excellent communication skills, scientific knowledge, and innovative perspectives aligned with the theme. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students. The presentations were evaluated by the judges Dr. Devisree R V and Dr. Jayanthi Varun based on content, clarity, presentation skills, and relevance to the theme. The programme concluded with the announcement of winners and the distribution of prizes, appreciating the efforts and dedication of all participants.
The celebration successfully reinforced the importance of public health dentistry and inspired students to contribute actively towards improving community oral health.
