REPORT OF WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2026
To commemorate World Mental Health Day on 10th October, the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Azeezia College of Dental Science and Research, and the NSS Unit organised an activity comprising a mental health awareness video.
World Mental Health Day is observed annually on 10th October to raise awareness about mental health issues and promote the importance of mental well-being. The day serves as a reminder that mental health is an essential part of overall health and deserves the same attention as physical health. It encourages people to speak openly about their feelings, break the stigma surrounding mental health, and create a supportive environment where everyone feels heard, understood, and valued. This year’s theme, “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change,” highlights the importance of listening to people’s experiences and promoting meaningful changes in mental health awareness and support.
As part of the World Mental Health Day observance, the Department of Public Health Dentistry organised the release of a mental health awareness video for students. In the video, students shared their thoughts and practical suggestions on managing stress, maintaining mental peace, and prioritising emotional well-being. Special emphasis was given to the challenges faced by dental students, who often experience academic pressure, demanding clinical schedules, examination stress, and the responsibility of patient care. The students highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, taking adequate rest, practising relaxation techniques, seeking support from friends and family, and reaching out for professional help whenever necessary. The video aimed to encourage students to acknowledge their emotions, communicate their concerns without hesitation, and understand that seeking help is a sign of strength rather than weakness.
In conclusion, the World Mental Health Day awareness video served as a meaningful initiative to promote mental health awareness among students and encourage a more supportive academic environment. It reinforced the message that mental well-being is essential for both personal happiness and professional growth. By listening, sharing, and supporting each other, we can take small steps towards building a healthier, more compassionate, and mentally resilient community.
