Department of Oral Medicine is a leader in patient care, teaching and research involving diagnosis and nonsurgical management of diseases of the oro facial complex and systemic and behavioral disorders that impact oral health. The department is run by dedicated clinicians who are well informed and highly motivated to train the dental students in the ever changing and advancing procedures in clinical Oral medicine.
Facilities
The department of Oral Medicine and Radiology is AERB certified and houses state-of-the-art facilities including Radiovisiography (RVG), Dental X-ray units, Digital Panoramic imaging machine, and CBCT. There are many ongoing original research utilizing CBCT technology and we also encourage further researches in the same field in the future.
UG CLINIC
Under graduate Clinic has twelve electronic dental chairs. Third year and final year clinical training programme is carried out in the UG clinic along with theoretical teaching of the subject. Students are trained in professional case history recording, formulation of prompt diagnosis and management of dental and oral diseases. Hands on experience in pulp vitality testing, chairside investigations, making and interpretation of radiographs is imparted. A special training in recognizing and diagnosing cases of potentially malignancy, TM disorders and facial pain, salivary gland diseases and dental anomalies is undertaken.
TOBACCO CESSATION CLINIC
The services offered at the Tobacco cessation clinic include individual intervention also intend to create awareness among the general public about the negative effects of tobacco and about tobacco cessation through awareness programs, exhibitions training programs on tobacco cessation for various professionals, and awareness pamphlets aimed at specific groups of the population. Continued education programs, workshops, guest lectures, yearly observation of World Radiology Day & No Tobacco Day keep the department updated to national & international developments in the speciality.
Dr.M.S.Deepa
Prof and HOD
Dr.M.S.Deepa is working as a Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology. Her association with ACDSR dates back from 2007 to till date.Dr. M.S.Deepa graduated in dentistry in 1998 and completed her Masters in Oral Medicine and Radiology in 2003. She has published 30 articles in various state, national and international dental journals. Her special area of interest is oral cancer research, dental care for medically complex patients and tobacco associated oral lesions.
She has delivered 15 invited lectures and has been in the organizing team of various dental conferences, chaired 10 sessions and has attended 40 conferences, 20 workshops and has served as external examiner in various Universities. She also holds certifications on Tobacco cessation and Palliative Medicine. She has also guided many undergraduate research projects, motivated them in presenting papers and posters in national and international conferences, winning awards and constantly encouraging them in doing publications too.
Dr Biju Baby Joseph

Dr biju b joseph graduated from BAPUJI dental college / Mysore university in 1996, . From then on he has been into the field of dentistry as a general practioner and a private pratoner . He had been into the academic arena from the year 2006 in AZEEZIA college of dental science as a tutor in the various dental departments . He acquired his masters from RGUHS , in2014, in the speciality of ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY . From then on joined as a senior lecture and has been into the academic session as a full time faculty, till the time . To his credit he has numerous international , national, publications , had been reviewer for various journals, had attended various conferences, had been judges to various panels , and had been into various health university duties .
