REPORT OF NATIONAL TOOTHACHE DAY
National toothache day is celebrated on 9th February, every year. This day is dedicated to bringing
attention to the importance of dental hygiene and to help prevent toothaches. Toothaches are a common problem that can cause severe pain, difficulty in eating or sleeping and fatigue. As a part of “National Toothache Day” the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Azeezia College of Dental Sciences and Research, Kollam organized an oral screening camp and awareness talk at Rosedale EM LP School from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
The Awareness talk was conducted for 3rd and 4th standard students based on “Oral hygiene and
brushing techniques” with tooth brushing demo by Dr Suma (Post Graduate) , Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry . An awareness lecture was also given for the teachers on the ame topic by Dr Suma. The teachers were asked to monitor the student’s oral hygiene regularly. The oral screening camp was done for the 1st – 4th standard students by the Interns.
A total of 211 students were screened and were referred to Azeezia Dental College. About 82
were referred for scaling, 110 for restoration, 33 for extraction, 3 for orthodontic treatment and 3
for pit and fissure sealant treatment.
