REPORT OF ORAL SCREENING AND HEALTH EDUCATION CAMP
The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Azeezia College of Dental Sciences and Research, Kollam and NSS Unit (NSS/SFU/KLM/KUHS/3) conducted a Health Education and Oral Screening Camp on 12th August 2024 at Sree Narayana Central School, Nedungolam . The camp was conducted for 8th to 12th grade students which commenced at 10am with a welcome address by the Principal Mrs. Sarama Devi. After that a health awareness talk was given to the students of class from 8th standard to 12 th standard about ‘Oral Hygiene and the Common Oral Diseases” affecting the oral cavity. The students were demonstrated how to brush with a model the proper brushing technique and they were also demonstrated the flossing technique with a video.
The Oral Screening Camp started at 10 30 am after the awareness class. A total of 145 students were examined out of which 50 students were advised a full mouth oral prophylaxis, 36 were advised restoration, 30 were advised orthodontic treatment and 8 were advised to undergo extraction. The camp concluded at 1:00pm with the vote of thanks by the Vice Principal of the School. The students were referred to Azeezia Dental College for further treatment.
