FIELD VISIT REPORT TO MILMA DIARY PLANT, KOLLAM
The Department of Public Health Dentistry of Azeezia College of Dental Science and Research and the NSS unit conducted a field visit to the Milma diary plant, Thevally, Kollam on 4thdecember 2024. The Kerala Cooperative Milma Marketing Federation (RCMMF) known by its trade name Milma, is a state government cooperative society established in 1980 headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram. It is owned by Ministry of Cooperation, government of Kerala. Diary is a place where handling of milk and milk products are done. Commonly available milk products include butter, ghee, curd, cheese, cream etc. Milma is one of the most trusted milk producing company of Kerala for a long period of time. Equally beneficial for consumers as well as farmers of the state. Proper processing, handsfree packaging are few major advantages of producing best quality products by milma. The field visit to milma diary, kollam provided valuable insights into processing and distribution of milk and it’s products. The observations and interactions during the visit highlighted the fact that milma is the leading producer of milk and it’s products in Kerala. But in recent times it have received healthy competition from privatized diary companies. Overall the visit was informative and enriching, offering enough knowledge about various aspects about milk processing and distribution.
