As a part of National Public Health Dentistry Day (19th June 2024) ,the Department of Public Health Dentistry ,Azeezia College of Dental Sciences and Research ,conducted various activities like Health Education by Dr. Aarathi Vijayan(HOD, Department of Public Health Dentistry )and Oral screening camp at Government LP School , Kaithakuzhi.
The aim of National Public Health Dentistry is to’Spread awareness about the importance of oral health among the public’.The theme of 2024 National Public Health Dentistry Day was “Utilizing behavioural sciences in promoting oral health”. On 19/06/24 Department of Public Health Dentistry organized health education on the topic ”Scope of Public Health Dentistry” for final year BDS students by Dr.Aarathi Vijayan. The topic emphasized about relevance of Public Health Dentistry and it’s scope, importance of Palliative care , job opportunities in health sector and health administration – overseas ,about Master courses and MPH in Australia.
On 25/06/24 the Department of Public Health Dentistry, organized oral screen camp at Government LP school Kaithakuzhi, for students from LKG to 4th standard and teachers of the school. The Oral screening camp started at 10:00 am. A total of 57 students were examined among them 25 students were advised for restoration and 14 for oral prophylaxis.The students were informed about the importance of oral hygiene, brushing techniques and they were advised for proper oral hygiene practices.
The activities conducted on behalf of National Public Health Dentistry Day were successful in providing awareness among the public about the importance of oral health care.
