REPORT OF AASTHA-NASH MUKT BHARAT ABHIYAN- Drugs Free India Campaign
The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Azeezia College of Dental Sciences and Research conducted an awareness program under the PROJECT AASTA in association with Nash Mukth Bharath Abhiyan( under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment ) on 26 th february 2024.
The aim of the program was to spread awareness on the issues of substance abuse. Dr Aarathi Vijayan (HOD, Dept of public Health Dentistry) addressed the gathering and delivered the welcome speech.Mr Abraham Thomas was the project coordinator gave a brief introduction regarding the agenda of the program. Mr Rinish(Programme coordinator,QSSS(Quilon Social Service Society) gave a brief introduction about the speaker.The awareness class was given by Mr Binu George, Motivational trainer, Resource Hub,Punalur. Mr Binu laid emphasis on screen and drug addiction and the ways to safeguard our lives from them.
The session started around 2pm, and was very informative. He also quoted some real life instances of drug and screen addiction, how lives of people are affected by it, what are the actions taken by them as officers while encountering such cases and the need to report such cases at the earliest and finally the need for us to stay away from such circumstances. He explained about the various advantages and disadvantages of screen addiction in which most adults and children are facing. The inappropriate use of mobile phones, social networks, and websites can lead to serious problems including health issues. He also explained the disadvantages of using chemical addiction ie the use of drugs in various forms as well as its harmful effects.
The session lasted for 1 hr 30 minutes and it was concluded with the vote of thanks which was delivered by Dr Naveen Jacob Varghese (Senior Lecturer, Department of Public Health Dentistry , Azeezia Dental College).
