REPORT OF NATIONAL TOOTH BRUSHING DAY 2024
The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Azeezia College of Dental Sciences and Research and NSS unit(NSS/SFU/KLM/KUHS/3) organized an Oral screening camp and Tooth brushing drill on 8/11/2024 as a part of National Tooth brushing day at Govt. L P School, Kaithakuzhi. The Oral Health is essential to general health and quality of life. November 7th is observed as National Tooth Brushing Day in India to reinforce the importance of Children’s Oral health and promote good tooth brushing habits recommended.
We reached the school by 10.00 am and were welcomed by headmistress, staff and students. The oral screening camp started by 10.30 am. All students and staff were screened followed by distribution of oral hygiene kits which included tooth paste and tooth brush. The Tooth brushing drill was conducted for students of 3rd and 4th standards. Demonstration of tooth brushing was given to students using a model and tooth brush. After that the students were divided into small groups and students of each group were made to brush teeth individually under supervision. Almost 80 toothbrush and toothpaste were distributed and 47 students and 2 staffs were screened. Out of 49, 19 students were referred to pediatric and preventive dentistry for further treatment. The program concluded by 12.30 pm.
