REPORT ON WORLD AIDS DAY
World AIDS Day is observed annually on December 1st every year to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrate international solidarity in the face of pandemic. The day is an opportunity for public and private partners to spread awareness about the status of pandemic and encourage progress in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care around the world. This year’s theme is “Take the rights path: My health, my right!”.
The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Azeezia College of Dental Science and Research, NSS unit (NSS/SFU/KLM/KUHS/3) organized AIDS Day on 2nd December 2024. Various activities like “ Red Ribbon Campaign “ , Distribution of awareness brochure and displaying of posters were done on reception area to commemorate World AIDS Day. We distributed Red ribbons, as a symbol of HIV/ AIDS to our Principal, Dr.Radhakrishnan Nair K, Vice Principal, and Dr.Rathy as a part of awareness. It was also distributed to all staffs, students and patients in the college. The brochures were also organized containing awareness, cause and transmission of HIV and were distributed among the patients as well as public. They were also informed about the importance of the day and made aware about the transmission of HIV. The students also made six different posters based on World AIDS Day which highlighted about HIV transmission, HIV facts, HIV symptoms, how to prevent spread of AIDS and advertised the posters on reception area and took photos ourselves and with patients too.
Overall our activities aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, promote education and encourage people and to take action to prevent spread of disease.
