We know that need is the mother of invention. World Environment Day is also constituted because of the need. World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated annually on 5th June and is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment. First held in 1973, it has been a platform for raising awareness on environmental issues such as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable development and wildlife crime. World Environment Day is a global platform for public outreach, with participation from over 143 countries annually. This year’s theme is ‘Only One Earth‘, which draws our attention towards playing our role effectively while living in perfect harmony with nature – without proving a burden on it.
On 6.6.2022 as a part of World Environment day the Department of Public Health Dentistry, NSS volunteers and the Eco club members planted saplings at the college campus .They also exhibited posters and models in the campus on protecting our planet. A sale of eco-friendly products in association with Buds Rehabilitation Centre, Perinad was done on June 8th.
