World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on 7th April, under the sponsorship of the World health Organization, as well as other related organizations. In the face of the current pandemic, a polluted planet and increased incidence of diseases, the theme for World Health Day 2022 is “Our Planet Our Health”.
As a part of World Health Day, several health activities were conducted by Department of Public Health Dentistry, Azeezia Dental College from 2nd April to 8th April 2022. On 2nd April 2022, an outreach programme was conducted at S.S Samithi Abhayakendra,a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre, Mayyanad, Kollam. Camp started at 10.00am, which was an oral screening camp. A total of 66 inmates of S.S Samithi were screened. Camp ended by 12.00 pm
On 7th April, as a part of world Health day, posters were displayed at the reception area of the college for creating awareness to patients and students about the importance of health. On the same day, Department of public health dentistry along with department of prosthodontics and Crown and bridge, in association with Kerala State Service Pensioners Union [KSSPU],Ithikkara block, organised a free dental check up and dental camp at Pension Bhavan, Chathannoor. Programme started at 10am. Dental screening was carried out along with spreading of awareness regarding prosthetic rehabilitation. The programme ended by 1pm.
On 8th April an outreach program was conducted at Anganwadi, Elavanmoodu. The camp mainly targeted on children and included health education to parents and Anganwadi teacher, dental exhibition, pamphlets distribution and finally distribution of colouring books and crayons. Programme ended by 12 pm.
The program was very successful in creating awareness among the targeted population
