REPORT ON REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION
India celebrated its 77th Republic Day on 26th January, marking the day when the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950. Republic Day symbolizes the country’s democratic values, unity and sovereignty. It’s a day to remember the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and to honour the principles of Justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. The day instils a sense of patriotism and National pride among citizens.
The Republic Day Celebration was conducted by Department of Public Health Dentistry and NSS unit (NSS/SPU/KLM/KUHS/3) ACDSR in association with Azeezia Medical College to commemorate this significant national occasion. The programme was organized with the aim of promoting patriotism and respect for the nation. Various events such as the flag hoisting ceremony, parade, patriotic songs and speeches were part of the celebration. The faculty members, students and staff actively participated in the programme.
The programme commenced at 8:30 am with a welcome speech by Mr. Jawahar Janardhanan, CEO of Azeezia Medical College. Mr Jawahar Janardanan gave a brief speech about the Indian Constitution as well as the history of Republic day. This was followed by the flag hoisting ceremony and an inaugural address by Dr. Santhosh Kumar A, Medical Superintendent, Azeezia Medical College. His speech reminded us of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and guides us to protect the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. A patriotic song was then performed by Gayathri, Hima, Hisana, Kripa, Kezia, Malavika and Nima students of BDS 3rd year. Another patriotic song was presented by Final Year BDS students. After the patriotic song, the programme included a speech which was delivered by Ansal Noor, BDS 1st year after which MBBS 1STyear student addressed the gathering. The programme further included a speech by Keziah Mariam Biju of BDS 3rd year.
Further, Dr. Naveen Jacob Varghese, Assistant Professor and NSS Program Officer, Department of Public Health Dentistry and Dr. Prashob K K, Department of Microbiology, delivered Vote of Thanks. The programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from all.
