REPORT OF ORAL SCREENING AND HEALTH EDUCATION CAMP
An oral screening and health education camp “ SMILE PLEASE 2.0” was conducted by the Department of Public health Dentistry, Azeezia College of Dental sciences and Research in association with NSS unit(NSS/SFU/KLM/KUHS/3) of Azeezia Dental College and NSS units (174 and 262) of TKM Engineering College. The oral screening and health education camp was organized at their Adopted village- Kottamkara, at MVG Vocational and Higher Secondary School, Kollam on 24.01.2025.
The program started with an inauguration and the oral screening camp started at 10.00 am for 9 th and 10th grade students. The Health talk was delivered for 8th grade students simultaneously. The health talk mainly focused on “Oral health awareness about different diseases” and proper oral hygiene measures. The proper brushing technique was also demonstrated to each student after screening. A total of 197 students were screened and 169 students were referred to Azeezia Hospital, Chandanathope for further treatment.
Out of total 197 students, 105 were referred for orthodontic treatment, 53 for restoration, 73 for oral oral prophylaxis, 5 for extraction, 2 for prosthetic rehabilitation and 13 were referred to pedodontics department. The oral screening camp concluded at 1.00 pm.
