REPORT OF WORLD AIDS DAY
The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Azeezia College of Dental Sciences and Research, Kollam and NSS Unit (NSS/SFU/KLM/KUHS/3) organized World AIDS Day on 01/12/2025.
World AIDS Day celebrated on 1st December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease. The theme for World AIDS Day, 2025 is
“Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response”, thus calling for sustained political leadership, international cooperation, and human-rights-centered approaches to end AIDS by 2030.
As a part of World AIDS Day, the Department of Public Health Dentistry, conducted certain activities. A Red Ribbon campaign was conducted and red ribbons were distributed to all the faculties of the college. The Red ribbon is the international symbol of AIDS awareness, representing solidarity with people living with HIV and AIDS. Various handmade posters were displayed at the reception area as a part of the awareness campaign. The posters were based on various topics such as prevention of AIDS, myths about HIV, modes of transmission of the disease, various screening methods of HIV, etc. Brochures were also distributed to the public and students as a part of the awareness campaign. The activities concluded at around 1:00 pm.
