DEPARTMENT OF ORAL MEDICINE AND RADIOLOGY
To commemorate World Cancer Day, a series of programs were organized to raise awareness about Oral Cancer. Customized keychains with a World Cancer Day theme were distributed to OP patients. This symbolic gesture aimed to Raise awareness about cancer among patients and their families and provide a reminder about the importance of cancer prevention and early detection. Flyers containing instructions of self Oral Cancer examination for early detection of precancerous lesions were distributed. The purpose of this
initiative was to educate patients about the importance of self-examination in detecting cancer early and provide patients with practical tips on how to perform self-examinations. Oral cancer screening camps were conducted to provide free or low-cost oral cancer screenings for patients and detect oral cancer early, when it is more treatable.The Camp was conducted at Kshama Care, Parippalli. Dr. Deepa, Professor and Head of the Department, delivered a health talk on Oral Cancer awareness as part of the Ayurarogyam program on All India Radio. The purpose of this talk was to raise awareness about Oral cancer among a wider audience and provide listeners with practical tips on how to prevent oral cancer. A state-level Oral Cancer Awareness logo designing competition was conducted to engage the Dental Students in oral cancer awareness efforts
and encourage creativity and innovation in raising awareness about oral cancer.
Dr. Thara C. from Govt. Dental College, Kottayam won the Oral Cancer Awareness logo competition with a ₹1000 cash prize.
