A Continuing Dental Education (CDE) Programme focused on tobacco cessation in dental practice was conducted successfully on 14th June 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness and strengthen the role of dental professionals in tackling tobacco-related oral health issues.
The programme began with registration at 8:00 am, followed by an inauguration ceremony at 8:30 am. The academic sessions commenced at 9:00 am with Dr. C. Venugopal delivering a talk on ‘Newer Trends in Tobacco Use.’ This was followed by a session from Dr. L. S. Sreela on ‘Tobacco and the Mouth: Lesions and Lessons’ at 9:50 am. After a tea break at 10:50 am, Dr. M. S. Deepa spoke at 11:15 am on ‘Operational Guidelines for Establishing Tobacco Cessation Centres in Dental Colleges.’ A panel discussion on ‘How to Run an Effective TCC?’ was held at 12:00 pm, focusing on tobacco cessation strategies for both primary care and specialty settings. The programme concluded with a debate competition from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.
